More commercial reasons in these cases but the same thing applies:

1. V festival (first and last time). We were told we couldn't take our foldaway chairs into the arena. It had been pissing down all night and we wanted something to sit on between bands. Creaky old gits, eh. We were told the reason was H&S. We asked politely for the exact reason and nobody on the gate could tell us. We then asked to see a supervisor who could explain it to us. Eventually we were let in with the chairs. Oddly enough, it appears they were selling same chairs in the arena area.....

2. Glastonbury 2007. They searched the cars on the way in and my big brolly was visible in the boot. They said that I either handed it in or wasn't going in. Yet again, citing H&S. I gave in as I had another telescopic brolly in the car. Yup, you guessed it, exact same brolly was being sold in the arena. I wasn't the only one caught out by this and it made a few folks quite angry. I left that one cold and wet, more intent on actually getting out of the car park than trying to find the place to retrieve my brolly.

I now go to a festival in another country where draconian measures are not taken to spoil your fun.

As to the smoking ban outside pubs. This demand seems to have appeared just as SAPAC did. Also consider that this, if it reaches directive type levels, is actually a demand for the UK as we appear to be the only ones determined to follow EU directives to the end.

It's like fucking lambs to the slaughterUnknownhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17969767902477233674noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3141759542968821728.post-90182097689360749582009-06-29T15:10:22.288+01:002009-06-29T15:10:22.288+01:00Great post don’t let these pious political twats g...Great post don’t let these pious political twats grind you down, hammer away.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3141759542968821728.post-52634473700702855042009-06-29T14:44:05.266+01:002009-06-29T14:44:05.266+01:00Totally agree with this DP - I wrote a post about ...Totally agree with this DP - I wrote a post about parents allowing their kids to use public places as kindergartens.

Children are our future

GeeksBeware of Geeks bearing GIFshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01593142105719207212noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3141759542968821728.post-48006584316597696122009-06-29T11:31:43.064+01:002009-06-29T11:31:43.064+01:00From personal experience I can say that I definite...From personal experience I can say that I definitely drink more since the smoking ban came in. I think that if people (see 2nd comment) are noticing an increase in antisocial behaviour then one only need to look to the start of the main article - adults are being forced to adapt their lives to children so they grow up assuming that the world must acquiesce to their desires, and sometimes, with the assistance of a skinful, they throw tantrums and get violent.
I was brought up to respect adults, not the other way around.
I don't like children anyway..BTSnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3141759542968821728.post-55555826284138602752009-06-29T10:54:53.473+01:002009-06-29T10:54:53.473+01:00Smoking outside pubs WILL NOT BE

Therefore more people end up in hospital and/or are noticed when they come out onto the streets.

I've always been able to get quietly and respectively hammered.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3141759542968821728.post-46217711455461641262009-06-28T22:41:53.626+01:002009-06-28T22:41:53.626+01:00I do think that drinking has increased drastically...I do think that drinking has increased drastically.
When people could go to pubs for a drink and a cigarette they had a few drinks and went home. Now that they don't go to the pub any more they stay home and have much more to drink than they did in the pub. Firstly it is cheaper and secondly there is no 'chucking out' time.
Everyone I know drinks more now. Even the non-smokers that prefer to go to smoking friends houses for a drink rather than an empty pub.
Moral of the story. Smoking bans create heavier drinkers !!
Good isn't it ??Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
