Most of the comments following most Health Lobby pronouncements and “it’s just as bad as tobacco” type articles these days tend to have a “Lead us, lead us! Show us the light! Show us the path of true Righteousness, oh, great Master of Wisdom” -ness about them these days …Jaxnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3141759542968821728.post-3469876376035703732013-01-25T15:27:47.483+00:002013-01-25T15:27:47.483+00:00"There is virtual consensus that drinking too..."There is virtual consensus that drinking too much soda is bad for you ..."

Virtual consensus? Is that like virtual reality? You know, appears to be real, but in fact is generated by a computer and so not real at all?

I sometimes wonder how these people would cope with life if they couldn't find something to be self-righteous and proscriptive about. Metabilic Syndrome (or "Syndrome X" as it used to be known, comprises High Blood Pressure, High Blood Glucose (T2 Diabetes), High Cholesterol and Obesity. All lifestyle-related conditions that are (allegedly) risk factors for coronary heart disease. They are also all consequence of being a fat bastard too, but that may be another story.

These are all the things declared to be in 'epidemic' state nowadays, and, as this plonker suggests, have all experienced a dramatic rise in recent times. But what is the reason for this? Is it just down to over-consumption of Coca-Cola, burgers, chips, beer, meat and salt, as the public health despots choose to argue? Or is there, perhaps, another reason?

might offer something of a clue. Have a read. it is quite compelling.

Then cast your mind back to 1997., and consider what other event led to devastation of culture and lifestyle - at least in this country. Ring any bells? (Hint: General Election).

I think we should be told if there is a connection!

:o}brianb007noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3141759542968821728.post-36481925426687958212013-01-25T12:59:03.411+00:002013-01-25T12:59:03.411+00:00I remember a time when these lunatics would be ign...I remember a time when these lunatics would be ignored. Call me nostalgic, but I yearn for those days to return.
Btw yahoo msm today had a large item on how UK beer consumption reduced in 2012 by 381 million pints. A reduction for the 8th year in a row. Pub trade down by 4.8 percent and off licence and supermarkets down by 7.2 percent year on year. Geonoreply@blogger.com
