Bu...That peer review comment is right on the money. But there's a little more to it. The 'public health researchers' are in general incompetent - in stats, economics, other specialised fields and so the whole dunghill is sustained by them approving each other's work by peer review and making sure that informed criticism doesn't get published - again by peer review.
