Hey Smokers, Don't Feel Neglected

In case smokers thought Public Health England - the new quango which is sucking up half a billion pounds per year of your taxes to bully you into living how career politicians think you should - had forgotten you in their zealous pursuit of e-cigs, this might make you feel more, err, loved [page 10].
12. England should consider matching the ambitious targets set for becoming tobacco free in Ireland (2025) and Scotland (2034)
14. A tobacco free target would require commitment, accountability, careful planning and modelling. Different types of strategies would need to be employed, for example reducing the nicotine content of tobacco products, reducing the number and concentration of retail outlets and setting limits on the volume of tobacco that could be imported and sold.
So, in case you were wondering, those are the next targets for the tobacco control industry after the smoking ban; raised legal age of purchase; tobacco display ban; vending machine ban; smoking ban in cars etc etc etc.

Well, you didn't think the tobacco control Goliath would just stop after plain packaging, did you? The new Mercedes, conservatory and loft extension don't come without more of that tax lolly, you know.

Personally, I thought they'd go for smoker licences next, but that's obviously one to bank for the future alongside banning multiple products for each brand of tobacco.

You live and learn, eh?

All I have to say about that is they can go and F&%* themselves sideways with a large marrow sharpened to a point and embedded with broken glass. Bloody cheek. Oh well hopefully I'll be dead by the bring this load of old cods wallop in.

Did the tobacco control industry not spend large amounts of effort "proving" that lower nicotine levels just led to smokers compensating by smoking more and was therefore no health benefit and in fact worse?

Tobacco-free, eh? Just like we're marijuana-free and cocaine-free, I suppose. Idiots.

Bellends. Lower nicotine - more fags smoked - more profits for tobacco companies and government.

They did indeed. Now they are changing their tune, it seems, simply because it suits them. Integrity, consistency and truth have never been their strong points.

Yep. Another country where e-cigs are headed to court. ;)

You will have to do as Leg Iron does and grow and cure your own.

Just saw this morning a senate hearing where they openly admitted how Big corporations started companies only to sell them and create endowment trusts out of the proceeds to create non-profits to do the lobbying to the government and a s a way to spread money for the political effort its pushing. Just pick your 501-c3 and let the money laundering begin!

It seems they now want OPEN DISCLOSURE and unlimited ability to donate and or spend all they want! All the while one man says the supreme court has said unlimited donation and or contribution via a so called charity or company can be the same as a DIRECT BRIBE even when it maynot be when no criminal charges are actually brought the mere perception is enough. So they start 501-3c front groups to still dump as much money as they want into their favorite candidate and or direct lobbying efforts.........We all know who the biggest Bully on the block is!

Just found this the anti-smoking business boom for restaraunts that stayed smoking when they had a choise!

Who’s enforcing the smoking ban?
Some restaurants have banned lighting up all together. While others like Dolores Cook, the owner of Dee’s Diner have been cashing in on the “ANTI-SMOKING” business boom.

“It’s been real good for me, more than i could have imagined,” said Cook. “I’ve got 90 percent smokers so I had to go with my customers,” said Cook.

Yes. PHE deleted the file and replaced it with a slightly different one at a different URL. I've fixed the hyperlink, the relevant part if now on page 10.
