Two Out Of Three Ain't Bad

It's always fun when an inexperienced press start fumbling around with betting prices.

William Hill slashed its odds from 300/1 to 25/1 amid the “biggest betting frenzy” on the party since Lloyd George was Prime Minister.

The bookmakers also shortened its odds, from 20/1 to 10/1, that the party would win more than 100 seats in the next Parliament.

Odds of a Conservative victory shortened from 8-11 before the debate to 4-5 by the end.

Yeah, err, nearly there. A little more homework required for inverse fractionals, methinks.

Strangely enough, while a Telegraph journo was confusing his or herself, somewhere a roadsweeper was mentally calculating the returns from an each way yankee without any problem at all.

There is some serious value floating around at the moment betting wise.

I still think Arsenal are in with a shot at the title. Great odds on them. I can see them winning all their remaining games and Man Utd and Chelsea dropping points.

Election wise, the odds on the winner and other specials change so much every day, because of things like poll results and debates etc, that it is possible to bet and then lay bets off to attempt to cover various outcomes.

keep your eye out - big swings in the market are afoot, specially after the outcome of the next two leader debates.

Very true, JD. Getting a position to start with is key, laying off then becomes a joy. ;-)

Sorry to nit-pick, but odds moving from 8/11 to 4/5 isn't shortening but lengthening. I'm surprised the didn't lengthen further. After the third debate, the odds on Cameron might be very long indeed.

That's why I gave it a red 'X', John. ;-)

The big money is on Brown getting most seats ,thats why they've shut the airports and thousands are
clammering to the seaports and
Eurotunnel. The only ones panicking to get onto this offshore cesspit
are John Cleese and those seeking the big "Easy". Even Whitney Huston
has jumped a boat to the Bog.
