Something Must Be Done

Following a written question to health harpy, Gillian Merron, on Friday, we can see further evidence of the terrible damage this binge-drinking epidemic is having on the young.

The yearly figures for youngsters, 16 and under, admitted to hospital for alcohol poisoning are truly shocking, so if you are of a nervous disposition, look away now.

Those supermarkets and their 'pocket money prices' have a hell of lot to answer for, don't they?

Same old lies spouted from the cake-holes of the Labour spin machine! This really is worrying! lol

Do they EVER get anything right?

Lies and spin, bans and taxes.

It's all they know.

Lamp-posts and piano wire. That'll fix 'em.

You have to like the way they present the tables in reverse chronological order, so that anyone just giving them a cursory glance gets the impression the figures are rising. Nice try.

It's also interesting that while admissions for alcohol poisoning are falling, those for “substance abuse” (presumably glue, aerosols and drugs) are not only a couple of orders of magnitude higher, but rising - with a slight dip in '08-'09, from which no conclusion can reasonably be drawn. So where's the panic over those? Why booze?

They cannot control illegal drugs.
It was estimated last year cocaine use was 1 million in the UK.
The RN seized 5.5 tonnes of the stuff of the Columbian coast last year.
Tip of the iceberg I suspect.
If they cannot ban drugs, and they cant.
Why the hell are they trying to ban fags and booze.
It is doomed to failure from the outset.
They are just showing their stupidity.
Or posturing to pretend they are doing something about it.
All this banning just makes things worse.
And starts of drug wars in the third world costing lives ,very often innocent ones too.
If only politicians had brains.
But then again if they had brains they might well be dangerous.
