Pay Now, Ask Questions Later

Ministers are preparing to move the system of paying Jobseekers' Allowance (JSA), currently claimed by 1.58 million people, largely online later this year in a major cost-cutting drive.

The aim is to make 80 per cent of JSA payments online within months, with a view to boosting the figure over time to 100 per cent.

Ministers are considering the best way of making sure someone is available for work if they no longer need to attend Jobcentres.
Err, shouldn't the latter have been fully considered, and decided, before even thinking of preparing for the former?

Like all Labour's actions and legislation only designed to further either an ideology, cover up a falsehood or to bribe never for a need.

So, leaving aside the Err comment, what are they going to do with the Jobcentre staff? No doubt Labour will keep saying unemployment has fallen in 2012, assuming that Labour still have a hand in runing the country.

So we are all going to get 'free' broadband and a computer are we??? Maybe when online to the JSA we have to have a webcam and mic whilst attached to a polygraph, (lie detector?)

Why are governments trying their level best to ensure that people no longer have 'face to face' contact and/or social interaction?

The older I get the more confused I am about life in the 21st century.

It's all about making sure that more of the Right Sort of People (TM) (paper pushers) and fewer of the Wrong Sort of People (TM) (those who actually do some useful work) end up being employed by the state.

Ah Well.... I have a recollection of a tax payer funded pishup for public sector IT great and good at The Grosvenor House Hotel on Park Lane a few years back and some clueless berk from senior management at EDS proclaiming from the lectern/pulpit their wonderful performance with the UK National Insurance Database and it's ......

wait for it.......

"80 million customers"

my ghast was flabbered - he was sincere and obviously pleased with himself.

No doubt some inventive Eastern European types and Nigerian entrepreneurs are already working on how to squeeze a few bob out of another uk.gov ballsup. I don't recall anybody much getting nicked in the Online Tax Credits free for all.....

It seems the ability to count beyond your fingers isn't a qualification demanded in UK gubmint IT schemes - here we go again - and now Gordon's Digital Dashboard uhhhh... ahhh... I'm going to have to take some pills and pull the curtains....
