Bell End

Ain't that typical. With politics crying out for ingenuity, character and humour, Tory candidate John Walsh is landed with Middlesbrough, which he can't possibly win.

He'll go down fighting insulting, though.

Bravo!

Super attempt though Dick. Humiliate your opposition first then onwards.

What the Beeb profile doesn't mention is turnout in Middlesborough. Having recently looked at turnout in all UK constituencies for a long blog post I thought I'd have a quick look at my spreadsheet and sure enough less than half of Middlesborough actually votes (49.8% in 01 and 48.8% in 05). In reality Stuart Bellend enjoys the support of barely a quarter of his electorate, and I suspect some of those who do vote for him are just doing it out of habit.

What a genuinely natural and relaxed campaign vid. Bravo!

Oops DP. Can you put it down to Election Fever Dick? (I'll take more water with it next time, honest.)
