Nice Timing, Luton Herald And Post

Our catalogue of anti-smoker psychopaths was originally intended for picking up mentally unbalanced gems from the commentariat, but then I suppose the law of averages dictates that one of the swivel-eyed crazies would also happen to work in the newspaper industry and spray their particular brand of bile around the print, too.

Simon Clark has the lowdown on a loathsome article in the Luton Herald & Post that might motivate you to write to the Editor via the contact e-mail here, if only for the crass stupidity of not instantly pulling such a piece in light of developments in Norway.

Perhaps the vile author, Alan Dee, has been playing this game too much and lost touch with reality ... if he were ever in touch in the first place.

Yes, I linked to your psycho spot too Dick in my complaint to the paper. I thought you'd want to ad this in.

I also hear a complaint has been made to Beds Police. It will be interesting to see if they take it seriously.

I worked in Dunstable once. When there, I saw a copy of the local paper which was advertising a position for the local (Luton) council. It was for a 'Minorities Smoking Counsellor' (ethnic quit services). I kid you not. And it was paying 30k plus the usual benefits.
I left Dunstable for Madrid 6 months later - a (wonderful) city of committed smokers I might add.

That Norwegian mass murderer wasn`t really a sniper, was he? :)

No, and let's just hope he's not a smoker.....

I hope that Beds police do take it seriously. Or, even better, that maybe one of their own might buy a copy of the paper and spot it himself. It's a clear case of incitement to violence, and the author actually admits in writing that this is his own suggestion, so securing a conviction should be ridiculously easy. Ironically, given the nature of the article, in police terms it makes this jumped-up little no-one a very easy "target" for this month's allocation!

But even if they decide to do no more than "talk to" this arrogant little sh*t, then that in and of itself should scare the living daylights out of him sufficiently for him to stop and think twice before writing anything like it again - about smokers, or indeed about any other group that he happens not to like. Oh, how I'd like to be a fly on the wall when that conversation takes place ...!!

Auntie-smoking was probably very upset about the naughty protest over the Stony Staford outdoor ban. As a result, they have probably commissioned people working in the mainstream for a "Bring Back the Hate" campaign to thwart future efforts against Auntie's orders. I imagine Auntie has commissioned some write-in astro-turf commentors to accompany it. It's not about health. It's about hate, pure and simple.

That's quite a good game, but it's not very difficult, is it?

I know this is a bit off subject, but I could believe my eyes when I read this, in this morning's paper. If there was a prize for double standards, this would surely qualify for it.

The quote in question, comes from HM Customs & Excise, who speak about the quality of a load of counterfeit cigarettes they had just seized. "The quality of the cigarettes was extremely poor" they said, "and they were likely to pose a health risk".

In other words cigarettes manufactured here, with their tax going to our Government are perfectly safe then? It now seems to be only those made in China, which "pose a health risk"

You can read the whole article here

Hopefully Beds police are reminded of another 'Joke'
Twitter Hoax

The unfortunate thing is that the Luton Herald piece would have been dismissed as 'humour' and had the desired drip drip effect had not the Norway event occured.

I wonder what would have happened if a newspaper article or even a blogger had suggested shooting Tobacco Control advocates or bombing one of their conferences.

It wouldn't have been long before the guys in black had paid them a visit!
