Facetious? Perhaps

In which I impersonate Worstall.

"Parents who don't know how to swim are very likely to pass on not knowing how to swim to their children," says Ms Anderson.
Really? I thought that not knowing how to swim was a birth default for all kids, regardless of parental acumen.

Non-swimmers are much less likely to die of drowning, of course - a very good argument for never learning.

Quite right Curmudgeon, did you know that most fishermen don't swim. Staying out of the water is what boats are FOR.

It is also said that if your parents didn't have any children, the chances are good that you won't have any either.

Hmmm, not sure about that. Maybe kids can all swim but only if there;s money involved?

Don't be so sure about this. Inherited learning has been observed.
