Four Years And Counting

After an incredibly problematic business week and a busy weekend, it almost escaped my attention that this blog yesterday passed its fourth birthday.

In the time since 2008, a not inconsiderable 2,467 articles of what was once described as 'tabloid junk' have appeared here, attracting just under 1.3 million page views - at an average of 944 per day - from 232,000 unique visitors and just over 800 RSS subscribers.

More importantly, in your humble host's opinion, are the 18,484 comments that have been placed here since November 2008. I have read every one, even if increasingly struggling to reply for various time-related reasons, and am grateful for your input which is sometimes brilliantly astute.

So what now from here?

Well, if anything, the situation as regards personal liberties which encouraged me to set Casa Puddlecote up in the first place has become exponentially worse. Whereas before the problem of dozy MPs listening to self-interested trouser-stuffers was becoming sinister and worrying, masks have since slipped; gloves have been discarded; and they are now openly treating the vast majority of the public with utter contempt.

Indeed, the themes that we discuss here are almost becoming fashionable as scales tumble from the eyes of many and this incessant anti-freedom, anti-social onslaught against human nature is beginning to be recognised.

Being a stubborn sort, I reckon there will be even more nonsense to highlight in the coming weeks, months and years; even more nauseating stink bombs of state policy; even more hideously pompous egos to prick; even more corrupt arseholes from whom to steal big fat juicy analogous jewels from. No point stopping now.

So, four more years then? Whaddya reckon?

Keep up the good work - it may seem like banging your head against a brick wall at times, but there are obvious cracks in the edifice even as it seems to grow ever larger.

I reckon that'll be a good start... ;)

Happy Blogiversary!

Can I add my congratulations for four excellent years - and yes, it's important to keep going...

Being a shy, retiring type of guy, I rarely comment here, but yours is one of the few blogs I read religiously, and I have done so from the beginning. You and other like minded bloggers are making a difference and I expect to see that pay substantial dividends in the coming 4 years. In the mean time there are indeed plenty of pompous egos to prick etc. Enjoy!

Thanks, Dick. Four more years please (if necessary) or until we come to our senses. Jeez - can you imagine the hangover they're gonna have.

Wow 4 years congrats mate, you have an excellent blog here, keep on keeping on is what I say. As more and more people start waking up from the agenda fed mainstream media BS blogs like yours are only going to get more popular, and that can only be a good thing. Most of the time these days with the "news" it is only what they want us to hear, you only have to see their pro-Isreali stance with this "war" (read massacre) to figure out just what is going on with the mainstream media.

Excellent job, DP. Keep amassing the examples (evidence) of
lying, fraud, self-approbation/adulation, greed, and racketeering of the
Tobacco Control Industry.

Only eighteen months ago, I first realised that there was actually RESISTANCE. Yours was one of the first blogs that I came across and I very rapidly learned just how much resistance there is via your blogroll.

It is because of you and others that Bolton Smokers Club got off the ground.

Long Live The Resistance!

Well done DP, keep it coming. We all appreciate your revelations and insights, despite the fact that 'Dick Puddlecote' Transport can't be found listed at Companies House. (Musht be shome mishtake, shurely?)

Congratulations on 4 years DP. One of the most consistently impressive blogs
ever. Don’t know how on earth you find the time to write it and do the research
for it - but very glad that you do. Thank you.

Hell yes!

The following is my (not so) humble opinion. But you did ask.

I have mixed thoughts on this. It's a question of priorities and resouces.

Might I respectfully suggest that your number 1 priority should be your wife and number 2 should be your family. That is not to say you don't already do that but just to get the obvious down in black, white and electrons.

After that it must be your job so that you can support them, yourself (and your workers).

Fourthly your health (physical and emotional)

Finally your blog.

The blog can be a plus or a minus. If is taking away from your #1 and #2 priorities then it has to be reassessed. Assuming it isn't (and I think you are far too sensible to conciously let it) then the blog can be a real plus to your emotional health. A good rant (with reason) can be highly therapeutic. And you seem to have gathered a loyal, supportive following.
Best wishes for another 4 years (if that is the best for you).
(All of this can be classed as the bleeding obvious but there are times when I have taken the wrong decision and had to recoup the situation as best I could)

Do keep it up mate, it was blogs (yours and VGIF in particular, as well as Bishop Hill) that, to a large degree, encouraged me to drag myself off my arse and start trying to hold some of these professional thieves and buggerers of liberty to account.

Bravo Sir! Too many of my favourite bloggers have fallen by the wayside in recent months & years so I am heartened to hear that your spitits have not been dampened. Indeed, as you rightly point out, our liberties are being stamped on even harder now than ever before, so I wouldn't say that you are merely providing us with the pleaseure of your thoughts and insights, but are carrying out a vital public service! On a personal note I first read about e-cigs on your blog and they turned out to be the best thing which I ever discovered on the net, so thanks for that!

FOUR MORE YEARS!

Happy anniversary! Given that the establishment will never stop feeding us lies and other BS (paid for by the money they steal from us) I suspect you'll be around for more than four more years (unlike some politicians).

Keep on trucking Dick! Even though I am a leftie (and to make matters worse, a DUTCH leftie) I love reading your opinions!

Crikey! Thanks for all the kind comments. I read them at work on the iPhone but hadn't noticed how many there were. Fair to say I'm touched. :)

Business as usual it is, then.

Happy Anniversary DP. An excellent blog - well researched, informative and very entertaining. I love your style of writing, very witty and humorous, poking fun at all those antis, prohibitionists and so-called 'experts'. One of my daily reads. Keep up the good work.
