You have been watching Jeremy Mean of the MHRA reading from a script provided by the pharmaceutical industry (allegedly).
This is the man who ignored over a thousand responses to a public consultation from real people and instead decided that killing e-cigs stone dead was easier than being brave in opposing the nine (most state-funded) vested interests who were in favour of medical licensing.
Jeremy was one of the 'experts' who provided 'evidence' to the EU kangaroo court in May, and whose testimony - along with others - was described as "cherry-picking" and "not good science" by the only public health advocate on the panel with a shred of integrity.
Note how he claims that he doesn't want to "ban products currently on the market" despite his proposal meaning - as the MHRA have admitted - that every single one will be refused a medicinal license in their current form.
This is the man who wants to kill the golden goose which has led to hundreds of thousands of smokers switching to vastly less harmful e-cigs; the man who sees the massive harm reduction success of e-cigs as something to be stopped and rendered as useless as patches and gum.
If there was book written about him, it might look something like this.
And the first line would read "Mr Mean lives in Healthland, which is very strange because he doesn't really care much about health."

Who is he talking to? It certainly isn't the camera.
Jeremy Mean. Cnut. With tomb-stone teeth.
He ought to see his dentist before he talks to me about anything to do with health.
What a cnut. I repeat myself, sorry, I can't help it.
This person makes me sick. Note the gushing sincerity with which he speaks. He's a twat of the first rank and I'd like to put his balls through a mangle and watch him scream. I'm just happy knowing the endeavours of this smarmy pillock will not, ultimately, come to fruition... I'd still like to put this balls through a mangle though... Er...Is that hate speech? Oh, I'm so sorry!
Here is something which confused me. It is taken from the website of a leading electronic cigarette company, who have their product in many retail establishments, including Tescos . http://www.nicolitesonline.co.uk/news/nicolites-welcomes-licensing-of-e-cigarettes/
Yep. He's reading it out, probably with commands placed for emphasis and eyebrow-raising. You just have to wonder who wrote it. ;)
'Hate speech' is just a creation intended to nudge people into self-censorship. Ignore it and fire away.
I read recently that Nicolites are backed or owned by a tobacco company. I don't know how true that is but disappointing if so.
Give the guy a break, it's not easy reading a script whilst looking down the barrel of a gun!!
Strange how the unlicensed drug raloxifene can be prescribed to women to prevent breast cancer because it has 'proven harm reduction'...
Yet e-cigs... well, you know the rest...
You would have thought they'd put forward someone who was at least functionally literate to read the script on behalf of the pharmas.
Shared as best I can, can't hurt to have people see the low quality and obvious dishonesty of these clownhoofs.
I agree. If I had bigger capitals, I would use them. What you point out is what makes me most angry about this issue.
