Dick Out And About: Pots And Kettles At The IBT

Dick has gone 'international' after being invited to key the odd column for the IBT, the first of which has been featured on their front page today.

To read about Alchol Focus Scotland's Evelyn Gillan and her twisted understanding of democracy, click here or on the screen-capped image below.

Congratulations Dick, I see the style is half toned down :) Lot of smokers writing these days for publications that add an interesting slant on the news.

I did ask if there were rules on content, but apparently not. They did remove an exclamation mark, mind. ;)

I notice that there is only one comment on Gillan's article, and that was not flattering. The whole thing is so wildly exaggerated that it is just silly.
Are these the sort of people that the Scottish Government relies upon for advice?

I think they rely on anyone who agrees with them, especially if they're the same people they paid to suggest the policy in the first place. ;)

“a blatant disregard for the democratic process.”

She means, of course, the political process.

Scottish Parliaments are elected once every five years. Meanwhile, people are voting every day to continue buying what is already among the most expensive booze in Europe. And she wants to stop them. Who's showing disregard for whose democratic process?

(I'd have posted this at the Scotsman, but who can be arsed to sign up for that? Stupid Old Media.)

Good point, wish I'd thought to add it. The market means that we make choices every day (or even every hour of every day), but no-one ever chose Evelyn bloody Gillan.
