How Do Lefties Love Climate Scares? Let's Count The Ways

"The goal now is a socialist, redistributionist society, which is nature's proper steward and society's only hope."

- David Brower, founder of Friends of the Earth
It's a bit scary, that.

But then, so are these.

"Isn't the only hope for the planet that the industrialized civilizations collapse? Isn't it our responsiblity to bring that about?"

- Maurice Strong, founder of the UN Environment Programme

"We've got to ride this global warming issue. Even if the theory of global warming is wrong, we will be doing the right thing in terms of economic and environmental policy."

- Timothy Wirth, President of the UN Foundation

“The models are convenient fictions that provide something very useful.”

- Dr David Frame, climate modeler, Oxford University
And there are plenty more.

Isn't it curious that all enviro-roads tend to lead directly to policies which would be instantly rejected by, well, just about everybody if they weren't terrified witless?

Convenient, huh?

"Even if the theory of global warming is wrong"

Says it all, doesn't it?

Yep - that reminds me a lot of the "So what if it's bad science, it's for a good cause" comment some anti-smoker big wig came up with.

There are definite links between the two - both use clear junk science to frame the debate; both insist "the debate is over"; both put down any arguments against them by not addressing the issues but instead using the "You're from Big Tobacco/Big Oil" smear; both rely on clever linguistics to shade public opinion (look at how smokers have been denormalised and made "filthy", and the use of the word "denier" in the AGW debate is intended to do the same); and both seem to have deep roots in the UN/WHO.

I was never a NWO person until I started looking into the tobacco control/AGW movement, but really, the evidence is out there exposing both as shams but it just never gets reported. The truth sadly is quite easily victimised by financial muscle and vested interests.

But I love how there is no cognitive dissonance when they come up with statements like "Even if the theory is wrong..." or "So what if it's bad science..." and the fact that they are trying to achieve something DESPITE the science. Does it never occur to them why, for example, banning CO2 emissions is necessary if CO2 does nothing? Or why smokers must be persecuted and businesses bankrupted if second-hand smoke is harmless?

Similarly, these comments are well-reported. Does it never occur to our MPS and Council leaders that maybe, just maybe, these people are actually making it all up? Hell, they're virtually admitting it here. Yet still it goes on.

Ditto your comment about "terrifying people witless", Dick.

We know the WHO decided back in the 70s that if they were to fight smoking they had to make people think it was harmful to others (again, it's in the minutes of some meeting somewhere - I'm sure one of the regulars knows who I'm talking about).

After all, fighting civil liberties on a "I don't like the smell" ticket would never have taken root. But fighting them on a "You're breath is toxic and giving me cancer" ticket is just the thing to get people going. Ditto the "Billions will die and our fields will be dustbowls/flooded (delete as applicable) argument gets the weak-willed and easily led all riled up in a tizzy of fear and self-righteousness.

Manipulating these worms' fear is a key part of why these faiths have somehow been accepted by science by the terminally stupid and neurotic (which sadly includes many of our lawmakers).

Sorry - "Your" not "You're".

Yea but it's the darling of the uber riche because those "thickies" have put their shirts on it.
They would lose billions in bad investments, that why it will be forced on us .
This is what will bring about their collapse.
ONCE THE LIGHTS GO OUT THE REVOLUTION WILL START.

If you've found The Green Agenda then you've probably come across this:

Environmentalism is Fascism

National Socialism, Democratic Socialism and Warmists all desire totalitarian control - it's for our own good and they know what's best for us.
