Now They're Just Being Silly

Eh? You mean they've reduced it again?

Drinking alcohol can not only ease the symptoms of rheumatoid arthritis it appears to reduce disease severity too, research suggests.

The patients in the study did not drink more than the recommended limit of 10 units of alcohol a week.
When did it change from 21 units? I must have missed the announcement.

So let's translate. That's one bottle of wine or three pints of Stella ... per week. I reckon, on that premise, the entire membership of CAMRA just became classed as binge-drinkers.

Me too. When I go to the pub mayne twice a week it's usually 3 pints. That's 6 pints plus a few glasses of wine at home plus the odd can. Blimey. I must be a raving alcoholic by their definition.

Salami tactics in action. Demonise the drink a little bit more every time. Before you know it -

“...on that premise, the entire membership of CAMRA just became classed as binge-drinkers.”

...which is probably the whole idea. Once they can represent CAMRA as a bunch of swivel-eyed wackos arguing in favour of killing babies and little fluffy kittens, as FOREST routinely is, they're home and dry.

Prohibitionists may be mad, but they aren't stupid.

Oops. Firefox's name completion didn't work that time, for some reason. “S” above is me.

This is still on the BBC news
website

"Alcohol 'protects men's hearts'
Drinking alcohol every day cuts the risk of heart disease in men by more than a third, a major study suggests.

The Spanish research involving more than 15,500 men and 26,000 women found large quantities of alcohol could be even more beneficial for men. "

In fact, I blogged it...
Surprised it's not been pulled as Eastasian propaganda.

Chalcedon: Yes & I think most working class people would be classed the same.

Stan: A man after my own heart. :)

SD: "Once they can represent CAMRA as a bunch of swivel-eyed wackos arguing in favour of killing babies and little fluffy kittens"

Don't know about the babies and kittens, but the first part is true. ;)

HAS: Beer is also very good after exercise and for boosting bone health. We should be able to get it on the NHS!

When I was young, I ended up in the burns unit with a bad acid burn. I was offered beer by the nurses as they said it helped replace the lost fluid from the burns and the alcohol helped with the pain from burns. I ordered in crates of the stuff from my mates and I still lost weight. One morning I'd filled so many of those carboard bottle things with piss, the nurse knocked them over whilst giving me breakfast. My slippers floated under the bed. Happy days.

As a matter of interest what

two timing, back stabbing ,frothy lipped skunks still frequent the
Judas Taverns of England.

Oh and let us not forget Mr & Mrs

Slightly of subject but cares
A cry from the wilderness
The half empty bingo hall next to a boarded up pub across the street from a deserted club.

Who did this to the least of us
But who allows it to continue

Some stay at home in their isolation, solitude, loneliness and rejection,
some stand in the rain and cold putting on a brave face,
some long for the old friendships ,the companionship, the feeling of belonging,
others yearn for the busy tap room where no one was alone,
even the strangers remain strangers, the widows without a night to look forward to,old soldiers
reduced to confinement,friends segregated,families divided.

And what of, we who are able if not willing to stand up and fight for the way of life, for
which generations toiled and died, a legacy stained with blood and tears, a sacred gift passed
onto us,now sacrifced on the altar of treason and cowardice.

Do we stand up and fight or do we carry on running.

Or, who gives a toss ?

Mike Brenner of CAMRA at a
Commons meeting yesterday blamed
the tax on beer for pub closures

Just where does this CAMRA outfit
stand and who the hell is pulling their purse strings.

It about time the freedom sites
start giving these dodgy groups
a closer looking at

Shift the fog.

Pubs are doomed, and they brought it on themselves. They still don't realise they are in the sights. CAMRA will, in the future, be the new word for 'suicide by stupid'.

It no longer matters what they ban or where. Smoky-drinky will continue even if we have to grow our own tobacco and brew our own booze. Always has, always will.

Pubs don't want smokers in them, fine. Find, or set up, a smoky-drinky group and don't go to the pubs. They don't want us, they have said so.

When they're all gone we can start fresh with Smoky-Drinky places becoming the New Pubs.

Really, they leave no other option for us now.
