In
July 2008, the Canadian province of Alberta implemented a ban on tobacco displays. To
protect children, of course.
Several NGOs provided nearly identical comments that the proposed regulations would be a significant step towards protecting children from the lure of tobacco products in convenience stores
How's that 'significant step'
working out then?
EDMONTON - More young Albertans are taking up the smoking habit, Alberta Health said in its annual report released Thursday, particularly those aged 20 to 24.
While the smoking rate for that age group declined between 2003 and 2009, it started to trend upward in 2010.
In 2009, 25 per cent of people in the age group reported smoking. By 2010, that number had grown to 30 per cent, officials reported in the 2011-2012 summary. Those statistics, originally reported as part of Statistics Canada’s community health survey, also showed an increase in the number of teens smoking, going from 12 per cent in 2009 to 13 per cent in 2010.
That pesky 'forbidden fruit' effect, eh? Will the tobacco control industry ever learn?

They did learn, they learnt that if they tell the truth then their funding and cushy jobs would disappear.
Alberta will prob now go for plain packaging :)
The only lesson they will learn is that their significant step obviously wasn't far enough and they will have to enact even more draconian laws. Just watch......
The anti tobacco industry responsible for lung cancer deaths. Let me count the ways: the EU snus ban, the Alberta display ban, the Queensland Au. $8000 fine for possession of nicotine solution,....Who's the bloke you report crimes against humanity to?
Stop press
Sorry for the leaving subject above but

Armed police swooped on a coach on the M6 Toll motorway in the West Midlands.
A police source told BBC Radio WM a passenger was seen pouring a liquid into a box, which then started smoking.
The 48 passengers on the Megabus Preston to London service were led off the coach and forced to sit apart in a cordon on the opposite carriageway.
Police said a report of vapour escaping from a bag which led to the security alert was caused by "a health improvement aid for smokers".
The motorway was closed between junctions T3 and T4 near Lichfield before police said they were no longer treating the incident as suspicious, but it has now reopened.
Staffordshire Police said the coach stopped on the hard shoulder "of its own accord" at 08:20 BST.
'Genuine concern'
About four hours after armed officers arrived, police confirmed the scene as safe. Shortly before 1500 BST the M6 Toll reopened.
The passengers have been allowed to continue their journey to London, although some have chosen to return north, to Manchester.
A police spokesperson said: "We received a report from a genuinely concerned member of the public about suspicious activity on a coach travelling on the M6 toll at Weeford, near Lichfield.
Yes, saw that. Do you think they could be meaning an e-cig? Flabbergasted is a perfect expression.
You and ReefKnot are not wrong. They can't get enough of utter failure, can they? ;)
There are devices now that do not look like cigarettes but do produce a lot more vapour and include a chamber with liquid which can be various flavours. See http://www.totallywicked-eliquid.co.uk/.
And when they do I wonder how much greater the number of younger people smoking will be?
Bet the tobacco industry are starting to wish they had introduced these tatics years ago!
You mean, war is peace, slavery is freedom and failure is success.
Rumour???? - Tobacco Control Industry is to be funded by Big Tobacco because they are the best ever promoters of smoking!!
Very little media attention has been drawn to the statement that any charcoal fed barbecue, conducted over a period of about 2 hours where 2 medium swized steaks, 2 chicken breats and 4 spare ribs will produce the same amount of dioxins - the chemicals linked to cancers - as 22,000 cigarettes. Admittedly the test was not carried out under extreme laboratory conditions (apparently the group were refused such facilities, for some unexplained reason), but this is something which surely should be looked at more thoroughly. Perhaps the authorities are deliberately preventing such research? I'm a non-smoker but believe that any one who does smoke (a legal right, for which a huge amount of taxes are paid) should be able to. Also, I can recall reading some time ago that the chemicals in cigarette smoke can aid the replenishment of the ozone layer.

No idea if it really is the guy or if it's some marketing gimmick.
Whether the guy is for real or a budding comic or just advertising ecigs, his video is bloody funny!

I suspect that the person vaping was not the true culprit. I suspect that it was someone pouring a cup of coffee out of a flask.
Err, why are you all commenting here? I have to add a link now! ;)
