Comment Of The Day

[...] when Portrait of Angel Fernandez de Soto (The Absinthe Drinker) is offered to the market in London on June 23, all thoughts in the room will drift towards the world record held by L'Homme Qui Marche I, a stylised figure of a walking man by the Swiss sculptor Alberto Giacometti.

It fetched just over £65 million, from a pre-sale estimate of between £12 million and £18 million, on February 3.
For a potential record-breaking art auction, serious technical questions need to be asked.

Peter Kennedy does just that.

Does [it] come with the Frame??

I am shocked and not a little worried that an image which blatantly glorifies drinking alcohol should receive so much acclaim and publicity.

What if my child saw it?

Won't somebody please think of my children?

Perhaps that is why the picture is so cherished. It could be the last of its kind before the bonfires are lit for depictions of lifestyle freedom.
